NANNY/Live-In-Caregiver Training Program:
A live-in Caregiver is a person (nanny) who provides continuous full time unsupervised care for children, the elderly or persons with disabilities in a single private household.
Canada faces shortage of Live-in-Caregivers
At the start of this new century Canada faces significant aging of its population as the proportion of seniors increases more rapidly than other age. In 2003, an estimated 4.6 million Canadian were 65 years of age or older, a number that is expected to double in the next 25 years. Nowadays, it is recognized that there exists a labor market need for Live-in-Caregivers and that there is a shortage of Canadians or permanent residents willing to provide live-in care work to fill these positions. In respond to this need, the Live-in-Caregivers Program was established to facilitate the entry to Canada of foreign Live-in-Caregivers.
Career Opportunities
YUG Academy of Health Care offers the opportunity to gain Canadian Standard work experience through care giving by matching those who qualify to local families as well families living abroad. The employers we recommend have all passed our screening and eligibility requirements and have agreed to follow labor laws on wage, working conditions and occupation. You and the employer will mutually agree on terms of placement after getting to know each other over a few virtual meetings. As an in-home caregiver, you will be provided a private bedroom in the employer family’s home where the care is provided according to the employment contract as negotiated.

Responsibilities As An In-Home Nanny / Caregiver May Include:

Caregiver Program Eligibility:
| Age | Minimum of 21 years old |
| Work Experience | A minimum of one year of experience as a full-time caregiver (other than your own family members and including 6 months with the same employer) OR 6 month caregiver course at a qualified institution |
| Education | Proof of High School completion, compliant with Canadian standards |
| Criminal Record & Police clearance | Police clearances from your present resident country and other countries you worked in since 18 years of age |
| Passport | Valid passport |
| Reference | A minimum of two verifiable reference |
| Health | Full confidence that your medical exam will be approved |
| Language | Fluency in English or French (both written and spoken) |
